Who we are

Established in 2015, uNyazi Sales & Services (Pty) Ltd is a proudly South African and has a BBBEE Level 2 status. We pride ourselves on contributing to the growth of the South African economy by creating employment opportunities and supporting our local workforce and industry where possible.

To date, uNyazi’s highly experienced management team acquired local and international experience while providing engineering services to the Oil and Gas, Power and Utility, Mining, Marine and Construction industries across the globe.

Today, we are committed to becoming a leader in the maintenance, inspection and lifting industries in South Africa. As a pro-active service company, we keep ahead of our competitors through our innovative and resourceful approach.

Our priority is to provide experienced and technically related services to the South African Industrial, Oil and Gas, Power and Utility, Mining, Marine as well as Agriculture and Construction industries, by offering a full range of industrial project and maintenance related services, from start to finish.

With many years of experience in Corrosion Protection, Non-Destructive Testing, Lifting, Rope Access, Valves, Instrumentation and related contracting projects, our team of seasoned managers, technicians and supervisors plan, mobilise and complete contracts with a minimum amount of downtime for our clients.

With offices in Cape Town, Saldanha Bay and Durban, we have - and will - continuously invest in all the necessary staff, equipment, and materials to execute all projects with world-class expertise.

VISION STATEMENT
It is 2027, ten years after the establishment of uNyazi Sales and Services, and the
organization is highly recommended and regarded by all its clients as one of the most
professional suppliers in Africa, both onshore and offshore, providing Valves, Industrial
Instrumentation, Testing (including Non-Destructive Testing), Corrosion Protection and
Rope Access products and services.

Francis Carruthers

Director of uNyazi

Francis immigrated to South Africa in 1977 and worked for three years as a Shift Engineer/Manager for Eskom at Kriel and Matla Power Stations. He then relocated to Cape Town in 1980 and spent four years working with Framatome (now AREVA) at Koeberg Power Station as a Start Up and Commissioning Engineer. On successful completion he transferred back to Eskom, at Koeberg, where he managed the first three refuelling outages.

In 1988, he left Eskom and took up the position of Managing Director and major shareholder in Intens, a service engineering company which he grew into a successful engineering and project management organisation. Following this, Francis teamed up with Eric McDonald in 2000 to establish Lesedi Engineering.

Francis is the CEO of Lesedi Nuclear Services where he plays a pivotal role in power generation. He is now also the Director of Unyazi, alongside 2 other Board of Directors in the company.

Francis is an avid fan of and participant in motor racing. He also loves golf and horse racing.

Nicky van der Poel

Director of uNyazi

Nicky has built a solid career through various financial and administrative positions. She moved from Assistant to the Branch Manager at HBA Systems, to being the Branch Supervisor at MS International and Sales Coordinator at Security Depot. Nicky also performed bookkeeping duties at Cardkey before becoming the Office Manager at Overberg Food Distributors/Land’s End Products. From there Nicky became the bookkeeper at Torre Maintenance Services.
Nicky started her career at Lesedi as Site Financial Manager and moved on to Lesedi’s Financial Manager. She currently occupies the role of Outages Services Director within Lesedi and now Director of uNyazi alongside 2 other Board of Directors.

Nicky delights in spending time with her family and friends. She is passionate about the development of females in the workplace, gender equality and continuous development through education and self-upliftment.

Vivian Allies

Director of Unyazi

Vivian is a seasoned member of the Procurement World, with over 20 years of experience in purchasing and supply chain management.

Vivian has spent over 20 years building valuable experience working for the DoD and large multinational companies in the Oil and Gas and Renewable Energy sectors. As Procurement Head, he was involved with 3 x ground-breaking Concentrated Solar Power projects in Southern Africa. During his time in the Oil and Gas sector, he functioned as the Regional Procurement Head for the Sub Sahara African Region and supported operations in countries such as Gabon, Congo, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea.

Vivian is currently serving as Director of uNyazi Valve and Services Pty Ltd, as well continuing his role as Procurement Manager for Lesedi Nuclear Services that support operations and projects (Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, Medupi & Kusile Power Stations) across our subsidiary companies.

Vivian loves spending time with his family, is an avid off roader, and prefers the path less travelled.

JP Muller

Executive – Industrial Projects

JP has over 15 years’ experience in executive management, business development, sales & marketing, as well as project management providing services for the Oil & Gas and Power & Utility industries. He believes in prioritising high-quality service as well as exceeding the expected delivery of the client’s needs. Therefore, he has become a well-known national and international figure in the industries that he operates.

JP is an avid businessman/entrepreneur who is willing to make calculated risks to ensure he builds a grand and successful business or division. With an experienced team, skills, intelligence and willpower he will guide uNyazi to success.

JP has a passion for keeping up with business and management trends for best practices on operating efficiently.

Stephen David

Executive – Valves & Automation

Stephen started his career in 1980 at ISCOR South Africa (Arcelor Mittal) as an instrument mechanician and was responsible for maintenance of field instruments, DCS systems and control valves.

Stephen then joined Control Specialists and was part of the team that focused on local manufacture of Fisher control valves in South Africa for the largest gas to liquid project at the time MOSSGAS (PETROSA).

After gaining experience Stephen joined Control Systems Management Services (CSMS) as a project engineer. He was responsible for the control valve engineering which included technical and commercial evaluations, factory acceptance testing based at Caltex Refinery (now Astron Energy). Large brownfield projects such as major unit repair programs were executed. During this time Stephen was seconded to Japanese Gas Corporation in Yokohama Japan working on the new build refinery in Thailand (Star Project).
In 1994 Stephen started his own company Control Valve Technology (CVT) specializing in valve integration and valve servicing. Stephen at this time had strong partners such as Emerson and GE. Control Valve Technology was acquired by Enermech where Stephen was the GM for the valves business in Africa.

As a trusted Emerson Local Business Partner Stephen is well known in the valve industry with special interest in Oil & Gas, Power Generation and Iron & Steel. Stephen is now Executive for Valve & Automation at uNyazi.
